Update: My first video review!

As I mentioned previously I was sent some products from MyRetailHeaven to review for their youtube channel. It was uploaded (here)today but edited quite a bit and joined with the other two girls who were sent the same products.

But I have the full version for you with just me! As cringey as it is I thought you product-lovers out there might appreciate hearing about these new beauties.

Products included are:

-Natural Origin Aloe Face Cleanser
-Natural Origin Orange and Rose Toner
-Natural Origin Face Moisturiser
-Natural Origin Rosehip and Primrose Evening Night Serum

So hear you have it, my very first attempt at videoing myself - I sound so prissy and girly, I really hope I don't sound like that!!

Updates: Inspiration where have you gone?

(Images sources from empirecinemas.co.uk, dailyecho.co.uk)

I apologise for my failure to blog everyday lately (or to blog about anything interesting!) but I am really lacking in post inspiration and motivation. Hense me not sticking to my usual RUE routine. If you have any suggestions at all as to what you would like to see/read on here, I would be very grateful and take them all on board.

So...what have I been up to lately?

Uni is now in full swing so assignments are beckoning as well as other exciting writing commitments that I have (maybe I’m not leaving enough time/brain power for blogging?). Time management is key at the moment which I have no problem with, procrastination on the other hand is a very good friend of mine!

As you all know I write for an online magazine called My Retail Heaven and they have asked me to do an online video review diary starting this week. I received some lovely skincare products from them over the weekend and am using this week to test them and see what I think before I conduct my first video review. Nervous much?! I hate watching/hearing myself on anything that involves a camera! But I will attach the link here when it’s available if anyone is interested.

(Mm mmm mmmm)

Yesterday me and the girls went to see ‘Death and Life of Charlie St Cloud’ and boy did that make my day! Zac Efron’s brooding, hurt and searching character complete wooed me and now I am actually devoted! He is so unbelievably good looking and I’m glad to have seen him in a different (less cheesy) light from his HSM days. Vanessa Hudgens you are one lucky girl!!

Also a bit of gossip from Southampton city, the Queen is here with us today! She has travelled from her palace to honour the naming ceremony of the newest cruise liner to hit the seas, Queen Elizabeth II. We can actually see the new 92,000 tonne ship from our flat!! And I saw the Queen’s car go past closely followed by police motorbikes. AND my friend actually saw the Queen herself in her royal blue outfit!! Exciting!! It’s not everyday you see the Queen driving past is it??

Cute blog! Where do you go to school for Fashion Journalism?

Thank you! I go to Southampton Solent uni in the UK, it's a great course! :)

Ask me anything

Recommendation: SnapIt Screen Capture - a great new tool for bloggers!

As regular bloggers dedicated to bringing our followers the latest news, fashion, opinions and product desires, uploading images (whether they be our own, or sourced from other websites) comes with the territory. How else can we display our interests, interiors, new wardrobes or detailed reviews?

Although by now copying, pasting, cropping and uploading an image is like second nature to us, does the long process ever seem tiresome to you? Don’t you just wish that what you see on the screen could magically appear on your blog, homework or office report without traipsing through paint, an image editor or pasting into word documents?

Well Digeus software have introduced a new program called SnapIt Screen Capture 3.7.11815 which enables you to capture what you see on screen, and save or copy and paste it straight into wherever it is you would like it to go! It literally captures anything from your computer screen by taking a ‘snapshot’ with just one click! Ultimately this cuts out the ‘Ptr Sc’ into paint process and cropping the image to look how you want to, which is not only a time saver but is so much more convenient!

Once installed and loaded you simply press ‘Prt Sc’ on your keyboard when you see something you like, this will cause the small camera logo in the system tray to flash. Your cursor then becomes a dragger which you use to highlight the area you would like to capture. Let go and hey presto! Your selection has automatically been copied. You can save it too if you like by right clicking on the camera icon and selecting ‘Save as’. Then proceed to your chosen new destination for the image and paste (‘Ctrl’ and ‘V’). Easy peasy!

This tool is great for designers, office workers, business people, analysts, technical writers who have to describe interfaces, menus, and buttons, and of course, bloggers! You can even capture moving images!

So next time there’s a Topshop coat you want to show your followers or a new MAC lipstick, just press one button, drag and click! What could be easier? Well only pressing one button of course but we can’t have it all!

See here for further details and step-by-step instructions. For a free 14 day trial of SnapIt Screen Capture click here. AND...if you download the trial and write a review of the product in any forum/blog/twitter/facebook, you will receive a GIVEAWAY licence of the program, for free!

(In order to receive your registration code for a free licence of SnapIt, download the trial product, write a review and leave me a comment on this post linking me to your review – leave contact details of some sort so that once I’ve retrieved your code I can pass it on – never again will you have to endure the copy-paste-print screen-paint-crop-process again!)

These are some of the images I have created through SnapIt capturing - no copying, pasting, cropping or paint use was needed:

(From The Saturday's new Higher video - this was captured whilst it was playing, I didn't press pause)

Updates: My Flat/Bedroom is Complete!!

All that's left to do is to put some fairy lights and posters up in the living room! What do you think?

Ps, Emma Howard and bella165 - you both commented on my giveaway post which I appreciate (thankyou!) but I'm not too sure if your comments were entries for the giveaway or not. If they were please could you let me know and state what you like reading most on my blog, plus leave a means of contact so I can let you know if you win? It's getting a bit confusing as to who has actually entered and who has just commented, and I don't want you to miss out due to my confusion! Thank you for both sharing the giveaway on your facebooks/twitters :D

Important Giveaway Update!!!

As you all hopefully know I am hosting a giveaway that ends 1st September (I have extended it!). I have included some of my essential products previously mentioned in my blog but in cute little travel sizes so you can try them without buying the full-sized product.

However I haven't had any entries for the giveaway as of yet! (embarrassing!)Now I found this a little peculiar as it's completely free and there are some lovely things on offer (and when did the world not like free stuff?!) but I also took it to heart a little as perhaps my readers didn't like what was included.

Then I thought maybe I wasn't clear enough in the instructions I gave as I have had a few comments on my giveaway post but none that met the rules I had set out. So I have decided to set it out more clearly for you and hopefully I can start entering some names into the draw...

• This giveaway ends on 1st September
• You can enter regardless of the country you live in
• You must be a follower of this blog to enter
• You must become a fan of my facebook page by clicking the ‘like’ button
• You must leave a comment on this post or my previous giveaway post and tell me what you like reading most on my blog and why eg, ‘I enjoy reading the Recommendations posts most as I find your tips useful’, or simply even ‘your wardrobe addition posts’
• Please also leave your email address or if you have a blog, make sure your email address is visible on there so I have a means of contacting you if you win
• If I reach 100 followers before the closing date (1st Sep) I will add more products to the giveaway
• If you also spread the word about my blog or the giveaway via a social networking site (twitter, facebook, blogger etc) I will double your entry submission so you have twice as much chance of winning – a link is required in the comment to where you have spread the word
• I will select the winner from a random selection website so it is fair
• And if you win, it is also required that you write a post on your blog about WrittenandPosted and the giveaway you received

I hope that makes things clearer and I have explained myself better. Any questions about the giveaway please just leave me a comment or formspring me.

Hopefully I have a more interest in it this time and I see more entries! I would love for someone to win this prize, I did buy it with you all in mind after all!

Good Luck everyone!! xx

Student Bloggers Alliance Lucky 13 Challenge!

As a member of the Student Bloggers Alliance I have been asked to complete the ‘Lucky Thirteen Challenge’ where I tell you all 13 interesting facts about myself. You might already know some of them or you might learn something new!

1. After uni I would love to do a masters because the field I want to go into is so competitive and I think this will help towards getting that job at ELLE!
2. I have a cat called Molly who is the snootiest feline you could ever meet! And she hates going outside. I have the scratches to prove it!
3. I may never steep foot in the house I have lived in at home for the past 8 years as we are in the process of moving, so when I go ‘home’ I may be in a new house!
4. I worked in Next for a year during my gap year on Childrenswear and met some of the loveliest people there. It’s typical that now I don’t have my 25% discount, their clothes get better!
5. I went to New York for my sixteenth birthday with my mum and it was the most amazing place ever! There and Skiathos are my favourite destinations for very different reasons.
6. I am really keen to study in New York for a year or to carry out an internship for a summer there. How fabulous would that be??
7. I am a definite chocolate person and don’t like sweeties. My favourite chocolate bar is the Dairy Milk Crunchie with lots of little honeycomb nuggets in it. Mmmm delicious!
8. I kind of stumbles across fashion journalism as a career. I was thinking of what I’d like to study at university and my mum said, “well you love to write and you love fashion, surely couldn’t you combine the two!” And that was how my dream career came about.
9. If I hadn’t have chosen writing I think I would have liked to have been a councillor, perhaps in marriage and relationships. I’m still considering that as a possible avenue to go down but as a writer giving advice.
10. My favourite restaurant is Prezzo and every time I go there I have the same dish! Pollo Carbonara which is spaghetti carbonara with bacon and chicken which is put in an al forno oven with melted cheese on the top. It’s heaven and I can’t resist having it every time I go there! Boring I know!
11. My mum used to be a beauty therapist so whenever I need my nails painted, waxing done or a facial to sort out my skin, I can have it done for free at home!!
12. I’d love to lie in Ireland one day.
13. I’m turning twenty-one next month!! I’m excited but at the same time scared as time is flying by and before I know it I’ll be in the real world!! EEK!

And there you have my 13 facts. Click on the link above to join the Student Bloggers Alliance and reveal your interesting details!

Ps, Today I've posted 62 blog posts and I have 62 followers!! :)

Updates: Drizzle Clash Clash

My new rain coat came on a much needed outing today. Why? Well because it’s raining here in Southampton. Actually, that’s an understatement! It is absolutely positively chucking it down out there and it has been since about 5am this morning when the combination of howling wind and heavy rain kindly woke me up!

So to have a 12 til 3 computer session at uni today was so lovely (although I did enjoy getting to grips with the new InDesign!).

The weather should not cause you to throw out your taste, clever colour combinations and eye for fashion but the sheer scale of water falling from the sky led me to adorn the splatter pattern rain coat, my leopard print wellies and a polka dot umbrella today! Fashion faux par I know!! But these three items were essential, albeit blindingly clashing.

I have a ‘wardrobe additions’ post lined up for you soon and of course the interiors of our flat and my bedroom! However the first week back at uni has thrown me off course with my blogging and writing commitments due to the amount of assignments and the huge pile of books I now have cluttering up my desk!

I am now off until Tuesday though and by then will hopefully feel much more stress-free after having accomplished my looong list of to-do’s. There’s just two of us girlies left in the flat this weekend so a movie night and erm...jacket potatoes and salad are in order tonight (not quite a chinese takeaway is it?!?).

That is if we don’t wash away on our dinner trip to the shop!
